2. Measure the right dimensional basis

Overall size, cutout, trim, service access and shipping package answer different questions.

Fictional one-axis measurement example
Fictional one-axis measurement example
  1. 800 − 777 = 23mm
  2. One-axis envelope difference
  3. Cutout / shape / depth unknown

Original arithmetic explanation. An available envelope minus stated overall glass width is not a cut line, clearance specification or complete fit review.

An overall glass width describes the glass envelope. It does not tell you the opening to cut,the adhesive geometry or the finished trim. Delivery packaging and turning space can differ again. Keep each basis and its unit beside its source. A source drawing must match the exact model and revision, and need not be a full-size template. If a source provides only width and height, the third dimension is still unknown.

Worked example

Fictional measurement check: an800mm available envelope minus a777mm overall glass width leaves23mm in that one axis. This is only an envelope difference. It establishes neither an opening nor total fit because shape, depth, clearances and installation remain unresolved.

What does the23mm difference establish?

The arithmetic is useful within its basis. It does not change an overall dimension into a cutout or approve structural work.
