The practical planning path · lesson 7 of 7

7. Read the source before the headline

Document editions, test conditions and unresolved conflicts belong beside the number.

Source editions do not resolve themselves
Source editions do not resolve themselves
  1. WAVE3: 15.3 vs 15.6kg conflict
  2. Mass remains unknown
  3. AIR2D manual: v06.2021 cover

Original source-reading diagram. The AIR2D URL contains2022 but cover edition is v06.2021. Separate WAVE3 sources disagree; no averaged fact or newer edition is invented.

Manufacturer specifications, retailer descriptions, creator experience and independent tests answer different questions. Keep the original date, model and conditions rather than upgrading one source type into another. Thermal heating/cooling output is different from electrical input or fuel use. A source specification alone does not size your van’s HVAC. Follow exact current installation documentation and qualified local review.

Worked example

Real source-reading cases in this pilot: WAVE3’s US specification and safetyPDF list different net masses,so the record keeps mass unknown. An AUTOTERM manual URL contains2022 while its cover saysv06.2021; the printed edition is retained. These are unresolved source questions, not a reason to pick a convenient value or silently make a document newer.

What is the useful response to the conflicting WAVE3 mass values?

Averaging disagreement does not create a reviewed fact. The site retains unknown mass and source context instead.
